CBD Legal & Compliance Notice

Last updated: 29 April 2026

This Notice explains the legal and regulatory framework that applies to the CBD ingredient in our products. It is written to comply with the position of the Food Standards Agency (FSA) on CBD as a Novel Food, the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) Code, the Cancer Act 1939, the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) guidance on borderline products, and our own commitment to honest, evidence-based communication.

If anything here is unclear, please email hello@thewellnessmethod.co.

1. Our products are food supplements, not medicines

The Wellness Method® blends are sold as food supplements under UK food law. They are not medicines, do not have a medicinal license, and have not been authorised by the MHRA for the prevention, treatment or cure of any disease.

Our products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease, condition, or symptom.

Where you see references on this Site to research, traditional use, or general wellbeing benefits associated with individual ingredients (such as cacao, mushrooms, spices, or matcha), these refer to the published scientific or traditional context of those ingredients in general. They are not claims that our products will produce any specific effect on you.

2. CBD and UK Novel Food regulation

Cannabidiol (CBD) extracts placed on the UK market for use in food are regulated as a "Novel Food" under retained EU Regulation 2015/2283. This means CBD products require pre-market authorisation from the Food Standards Agency before they can be legally sold in the UK.

The FSA operates a public list of CBD products that may remain on the market while their full Novel Food authorisation is being assessed. Products on the public list have submitted credible Novel Food applications and met the FSA's validation requirements.

Our products are sold in line with the FSA's public list framework. [TO CONFIRM: confirm public list status, application reference, and applicant company before publishing.]

We will update this Notice if the FSA's regulatory position on CBD as a Novel Food changes, including any final authorisation decisions or changes to the recommended Acceptable Daily Intake.

3. CBD content and recommended daily intake

The CBD content of each product is stated on the label. Each serving contains approximately 1mg of CBD as a non-active flavour and aromatic component of our broad-spectrum hemp extract.

The FSA's current provisional advice (as of the date of this Notice) is that healthy adults should not consume more than 10mg of CBD per day from food. The CBD level in our products is well within this guidance at recommended servings. Always check the on-pack serving instructions and avoid combining multiple CBD-containing products without considering the cumulative daily intake.

4. Who should not use our products

Our products are intended for healthy adults aged 18 and over. Do not use our products if you are: under 18 years of age; pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding; taking prescription medication (including blood thinners, antidepressants, anti-epileptics, immunosuppressants, or any medication metabolised by the liver — please consult your GP first); living with a serious medical condition, including liver or kidney impairment (please consult your GP first); allergic to any of the ingredients listed on pack.

If you are unsure whether our products are right for you, please speak to a qualified healthcare professional before use. Discontinue use if you experience any unexpected reaction and seek medical advice.

5. Drug testing

Our products contain broad-spectrum hemp extract. While we work with suppliers who test for THC, we cannot guarantee that consumption will not result in a positive drug test in highly sensitive workplace, sport, or roadside testing scenarios. If you are subject to drug testing, please consider this carefully before purchase.

6. Driving

CBD is not currently listed as an impairing substance under the Road Traffic Act, but THC is. While our products are formulated with broad-spectrum hemp extract designed to comply with UK limits on controlled cannabinoids, individual responses to any food supplement can vary. Do not drive or operate machinery if you feel unwell or unfocused after using our products.

7. How we communicate about CBD

We are committed to honest, evidence-led communication. In line with the ASA CAP Code, the Cancer Act 1939, and FSA guidance on health claims, we do not and will not: claim our products treat, cure, prevent, or alleviate any medical condition; use the words "medicinal", "therapeutic", or any term that implies a medical effect; make any specific health claim that has not been authorised on the GB Nutrition and Health Claims Register; imply that CBD itself is the active ingredient producing any benefit; reference cancer in the context of treatment, cure or prevention.

Where we describe traditional or culturally-rooted uses of an ingredient (for example, cacao's heritage in Mesoamerican ritual), we do so as cultural and historical context, not as a claim about what our product will do for you.

If you spot any communication of ours that you believe falls short of these standards, please email hello@thewellnessmethod.co. We take compliance seriously and welcome the feedback.

8. Storage

Store unopened products in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight. Once opened, use within the timeframe shown on pack and reseal between uses to preserve freshness. Keep out of reach of children and pets. Use by the best-before date shown on pack.

9. Allergens and ingredients

Full ingredient lists, allergen information, and nutritional information are shown on pack and on each product page. Always read the label before consumption. Our products are made in a facility that handles dairy, soya, and tree nuts — please check the on-pack allergen advice if you have specific sensitivities.

10. Reporting an adverse reaction

In the unlikely event you experience an adverse reaction to one of our products: 1. Stop use immediately and seek medical advice if symptoms warrant it. 2. Contact us at hello@thewellnessmethod.co with your batch number (printed on pack) and a description of what occurred. 3. We will log the report, support any required medical follow-up, and notify the relevant regulator if appropriate. You can also report adverse reactions to food directly to the Food Standards Agency at food.gov.uk.

11. Updates to this Notice

We will update this Notice as the regulatory landscape for CBD in the UK evolves. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
